When we first opened Home Rule in Sept of 1999 it was a small neighborhood store that only a few folks knew about and kept alive with their support and dollars. People in DC just weren't looking for trendy home goods along an ever decaying stretch of 14TH ST NW. 

But soon, word was out, that some guys had opened up a little home store on 14Th in Shaw -- then with a little help from the Washington Post -- and we like to think, good retailing, the fame of our little shop grew and grew -- until one day -- we had folks visiting us from as far away as Georgetown and Bethesda!

 Now with new shops opening up everyday and condo projects galore -- it easy to miss us among all the glitz -- plus many of you are new to DC, our neighborhood, or just shopping in DC --- so for those of you we haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet --
