In what neighborhood is Home Rule located?

The shop is located is the historic district of Shaw. It is on our block where the neighborhoods of Shaw, Logan, and Dupont Circle meet.

14Th Street is also the old auto row of Washington that ran north from the center of the downtown business district into the mostly residential northern sections of DC. Our stretch of 14Th, north of Thomas Circle and south of U is also known as the Mid-city.  A name that nods to its location as the geographical center of Washington. The commercial zone that is 14Th and U is now referered to by the Main Street program as the 14Th and U shopping and historical district.

Our stretch of 14TH ST NW was scarred and left forgotten by the riots of 1968 and the years of neglect that followed. Today, Home Rule is proud to have be one of the first small businesses to have opened its doors back in 1999 and since has helped to recycle and rejuvenate this vital DC corridor.

No matter how you choose to arrive at our door, make sure you  plan time to explore the historic homes and neighborhoods of Shaw, Logan and Dupont Circle. Explore the history of jazz in DC and early African American life in DC by walking the 14Th and U ST African American Heritage Trail.
